If you are into fitness at all, you've probably heard of nitric oxide supplements, also known as NO. These supplements are just beginning to make a stir in the fitness world and are becoming increasingly widespread in use because they are inexpensive, safe and effective.

Nitric oxide naturally occurs as a gas in the body, and is a product of the amino acid arginine. Nitric oxide supplements serve several functions, including endocrine and circulatory support. If you don't have enough nitric oxide circulating in your system, you can experience physical weakness and fatigue.
Normally, when you exercise your muscles, such as you do if you are a bodybuilder, nitric oxide gas is naturally released as a result of blood vessel dilation and muscle contraction. Blood fills up these smooth muscles, so that they temporarily become larger.
This is called a "pump," and unfortunately, this effect doesn't stay put for long. As soon as the bodybuilding or other workout is over, muscle "pump" begins to disappear, muscles begin to appear smaller.
Added supplements help the release of nitric oxide throughout the day, instead of just as a result of working a muscle. This lets you, the bodybuilder, keep your muscles "pumped," even after your workout is over.
These supplements also help dilate and widen blood vessels, such that circulation to organs and muscles is increased. This means that your muscles, organs, etc. get oxygenated blood and nutrients throughout the day, which makes them work more efficiently. This also means that you can work out longer without damaging your muscles.
